Perhaps the most popular and versatile British artist of the 20th Century, David Hockney (born on the 9th July, 1937 in Bradford, England) became internationally famous in the early 1960s as one of the leaders of the Pop Art movement in the
United Kingdom. He is known for his "swimming pool" paintings during the '60s, for elaborate stage sets during the '70s and for photo collages during the '80s.
