Regarded by many as the world's finest water colour artist, Sir William Russell Flint was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, 1880. Flint studied at the Royal Institution School of Art, Edinburgh. Having served six years of apprenticeship as a
lithographic artist and designer, he moved to London in 1900 to work as a medical illustrator at just 20. In 1947 William Russell Flint was knighted. In
1962 his work was acknowledged by a retrospective exhibition in the Diploma Gallery
of
the
Royal Academy.
