Works of Art • Yvonne Barlow

Yvonne Barlow studied at the Central School of Art, Chelsea School of Art and London University.
After leaving University she worked with Mass Observation, a social research organisation which gathered data on everyday life in Britain from 1937-1950. The work gave Yvonne an opportunity to study and consider closely every day human encounters and the environments close to her home.
Yvonne was also part of a group of artists, writers, musicians and eccentrics who lived and worked in Bloomsbury. The group included such diverse talents as Colin Davis, John Berger, Fritz Spiegel and Quentin Crisp.
Yvonne mainly works in oil, but her works also include pen-and-ink sketches, watercolours and gouache. The work that we will be showing the Gallery in the Autumn of 2011 falls into three distinct themes: human encounters, nature and still life.
