Charle Kvapil: Nue Allongee

Oil on canvas

Size:

Charles Kvapil was born in 1884, in Anvers, Belgium. After studying painting at the Academy des Beaux-Arts d'Anvers, he went on to establish his reputation in 1920 at the Salon des Independants in Paris. Influenced by Cezanne and the Post -Impressionists, his subjects of nudes, still life and landscape, show a robustness of form and assured use of bold colour. Kvapil's works can be seen in the Museum d' Art Moderne in Paris and the Museum des Beaux-Arts in Amsterdam, and museums in Luxemberg, LeHavre, Rouen and Saint-Etienne.
